Innovation in Video Processing

The video visionaries that founded RGB Networks knew that big changes were coming in the video entertainment industry that would require more sophisticated video processing capabilities than were currently available. They put their expertise in digital television, re-statistical multiplexing techniques and RF technology to work and developed a new class of products that have transformed the video delivery landscape beyond the traditional broadcast model to a personalized architecture that supports the growing need for on-demand and switched services.

Delivering video at orders of magnitude higher densities with better quality, RGB's innovative new technology enables the delivery of the revenue-generating, yet bandwidth-hungry services that operators must now offer to stay competitive in a digital world.

By rethinking and redesigning the way video had been processed to-date, RGB's new approach yields flexibility and scalability beyond anything that previously existed. It is now the foundation for a new family of products that are changing the delivery of video forever.

Welcome to the video revolution.

RGB at the Center of the Video Revolution
Since the introduction of our first product in 2005, RGB Networks has rapidly gained the approval of cable and telecom operators worldwide, surpassing sales of 7,000 advanced video processing products to over 160 customers in more than 20 countries, and we're continuing that success as we expand into new markets and regions around the globe.

Are You Ready for the Video Revolution?
The video market is rapidly moving in a very exciting direction. Video services are becoming increasingly personalized, allowing subscribers to watch what they want, when they want it and on any device—from TVs to PCs, cell phones and iPods®. While providing choices for consumers, these advancements present many challenges for video service providers. Very powerful, yet flexible video processing technology is necessary to manage the growing number of video streams, repurpose the video for delivery to different platforms, and to address the issues of the bandwidth crunch and the changing advertising models.

A video revolution in happening...is your network ready?

Improving Bandwidth Efficiency
There has been a recent explosion of bandwidth-consuming services, with two of the most popular being high definition television (HDTV) and video-on-demand (VOD). A single HD stream consumes the same or more bandwidth as four standard definition streams and consumers continue to demand more and at optimum quality. With HDTV being a major factor in the competition for video subscribers, operators must deliver in order to stay in the game. Based on sophisticated video processing technology, RGB's advanced products allow digital video providers to perform bandwidth optimization in a variety of environments, including broadcast, VOD and switched digital video (SDV), without major headaches and costly network upgrades, quickly making room for the delivery of more revenue-generating services.

The Changing Advertising Model
With the introduction of digital video recorders (DVRs), the ad-skipping technology made popular by TiVo®, consumers now have an easy way to fast-forward through irrelevant television ads. Operators also face competition from highly targeted Internet advertising as they fight for lucrative advertising dollars. In order to avoid losing critical revenue, cable and telco operators must turn to targeted advertising, reaching subscribers with its addressability and engaging them with its relevancy. RGB Networks is advancing the state-of-the-art in television advertising through the advanced capabilities of its products.

Video Intelligence ArchitectureTM (VIA)
The key to RGB Networks' groundbreaking technology is its Video Intelligence Architecture (VIA), an innovative design methodology that overcomes previous technological barriers, delivering the industry's highest density solutions that dramatically lower the cost of delivering advanced services in today's digital video environments.

Leveraging a core set of sophisticated video processing capabilities that work with Gigabit Ethernet networking and switching technologies, VIA delivers scalable, future-proof solutions that easily adapt to the changing landscape, ensuring high-performance, cost-effective processing for a wide range of digital video applications - all from a single programmable platform.

Driving the Video Revolution
With expertise in key digital video technologies, including statistical multiplexing and modulation, and extensive experience in a wide variety of application areas, including video repurposing, on-demand bandwidth optimization, advanced and targeted advertising, switched digital video and IPTV, RGB Networks delivers the industry's highest quality video without compromising on functionality.

Our patented technology gives RGB's products a high degree of flexibility, saving operators significant time and money today, while providing for easy scalability as the personalized video market continues to evolve.

View Sonic

ViewSonic

ViewSonic Corporation is a leading global provider of computing, consumer electronics and communications solutions. ViewSonic develops, markets and supports a broad range of innovative products, including LCD TVs, computers, LCD monitors, projectors, digital photo frames, digital signage displays and digital media players.

Technologies
For many of the world’s computer users, the ViewSonic brand is never far away. The company has built a worldwide reputation as a leading producer of computer displays, but today ViewSonic offers much more. ViewSonic’s product portfolio now embraces LCD TVs, laptops, tablet PCs, LCD monitors, projectors, digital photo frames, digital signage displays and digital media players.

Classroom technology
The last decade has seen more change in the classroom experience than was seen in the previous century. The move to personalised education, inclusiveness and continuous assessment has been supported by a new generation of classroom technology.

ViewSonic has developed solutions which improve that experience even further. The company understands that the natural evolution of the syllabus is driving broader content and that has to be managed and delivered in the classroom.

Technology can help, but as adoption increases, a change of behaviour is often needed to control and harness it. Since the Millennium educational establishments have been learning lessons from the business world in the way that they select, source and manage infrastructure.

ViewSonic has taken the initiative to create products and solutions that meet both the evolving needs and the realities of today’s education market.

Education projectors
The projector is now the focus for content delivery in any classroom Although a classroom could hardly be called a ‘hostile environment’ it is certainly a challenging one. The teacher or lecturer just wants simple technology that works, hour after hour.

ViewSonic, with its heritage planted firmly in display technology, adds value to the education sector. The company applies knowledge, expertise and commercial assets to bringing solutions to market that leverage those technology improvements that really deliver benefits.

As well as supporting 3D, interactive pens, short-throw and other recent developments in projection, ViewSonic has incorporated a number of other features to address the specific needs of the education market.

Collaborative business technology
Over the last five years, the requirements of business buyers have evolved. The old meeting room projectors are increasingly being replaced by new models which support collaborative working. Business users not only want brighter, clearer images for viewing in daylight conditions, they also want greater connectivity options and an expanded set of features to support greater energy efficiency, lower cost of ownership and improved ease-of-use.

For these buyers replacing their legacy models with a new ViewSonic projector makes sense both in terms of functionality and cost of ownership. Even in the budget category, today’s business projectors are completely different animals to those available five years ago.

ViewSonic’s digital signage solutions
Digital signage solutions take a number of forms. ViewSonic’s combine a networked media player with a number of display formats, which can be selected to suit the application. ViewSonic’s media players include the X86-based NMP-640. This PC-based player features an Intel Atom D525 Dual Core 1.8GHz processor and has 2GB of internal memory and an Ethernet RJ45 port, along with optional Wi-Fi and an embedded Windows7 Professional OS. All of ViewSonic’s digital signage displays, including ePosters, commercial displays and commercial TVs, can be paired with the player.
